How Rumos protects your crypto
Who holds your crypto? Here's exactly how it works.
Feeling nervous before your first crypto purchase is completely normal. So let's be specific, with no hand-waving. Here is who holds your money, who checks our work, and how your account stays yours.

The big one
Your crypto is kept apart from our money.
Rumos keeps your crypto with BitGo, a regulated custodian, as one layer of how we protect your account. You see, buy and manage everything in the Rumos app.
Customer crypto sits in segregated accounts, separate from Rumos' own money. That is standard practice for regulated crypto services, and it means Rumos does not use your crypto for its own business.
-
Held separately
Your crypto is kept in accounts separate from Rumos' own funds.
-
Regulated custody
Custody runs through BitGo, a regulated custodian. Your account, access and support stay with Rumos.
-
Your private keys
The secret codes that control crypto. Rumos never touches them.
Regulation
Held to real rules.
Rumos works with BitGo, a regulated custodian, to hold customer crypto. MiCA is the EU's rulebook for crypto, and it sets clear obligations for how customer assets are handled.
- Clear rules on customer assets
- Honest communication on returns and risk
- Identity and anti-fraud checks
Custody & execution partner (EU)
BitGo Europe GmbH, authorised under MiCA by BaFin. Rumos is a technology provider and is not itself a licensed financial institution.
Operating entity (EU)
CU EUROPE, digitalne storitve, d.o.o., Slovenia. Reg. no. 7591802000 · Tax no. 69157022

Verified, not anonymous
We verify everyone, including you.
Anonymous accounts are how bad actors hide. So we confirm the identity of every person on the platform.
Identity verification (KYC/AML)
Sumsub, a specialist verification provider, runs our KYC checks. It helps keep fraudsters and money launderers off the platform, and stops anyone opening an account in your name.

On your side
How we protect your account.
Custody and regulation cover the big picture. These are the everyday locks that keep your own account yours.
-
Cold storage
The large majority of crypto is kept offline, disconnected from the internet.
-
Encryption everywhere
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, between your phone and our servers.
-
Two-factor login (2FA)
Add a second step to sign in, so a password alone is never enough.
-
Your PIN & biometrics
Lock the app behind a PIN, Face ID, or fingerprint.
What if Rumos shuts down?
Customer crypto is not on Rumos' balance sheet. It sits in segregated accounts with our regulated custody partner BitGo, separate from Rumos' own money, so it is never mixed with the company's funds.
Can you take my money?
No. Your crypto sits in segregated accounts with our custody partner BitGo, separate from Rumos' own money. You decide what to buy, hold and sell in the app, and you can withdraw to your bank.
What happens to my ID?
Your identity check is handled by Sumsub, a specialist identity-verification provider, and your documents are encrypted. We collect what regulations require and nothing more.
What if I lose my phone?
A lost phone alone doesn't open your account: it needs your PIN, biometrics, and 2FA. Sign in on a new device, lock the old session, and you're back in. Your crypto never lived on the phone; it is held in custody and you reach it through your Rumos account.
Do you store my card details?
Card payments run through regulated processors (Visa and Mastercard rails). Card data is tokenised by the processor, so we don't keep your full card number on file.
